A general profile for ages 14–18, with personal decisions, study, work or volunteering, privacy and community leisure. Uses 36 choices throughout to retain the same core/navigation layout as the other age profiles; the separate 48-choice build remains an option. Grid size is an access choice. These new complete files need a first device test; the preview is not a TouchChat emulator.

Familiar words as topics change. All four age builds use the same 36-choice home, word pages, spelling and navigation. Choose the topics that suit the person; there is no need to switch on a birthday. Compare age ranges →

Put Everyday ages 14–18 into TouchChat

  1. Download it on the iPad.

    Open this page in Safari and tap Download whole build. Confirm Download if asked. You can also AirDrop the .ce file from your Mac.

  2. Find the download in Files.

    Open the blue Files app. Tap Browse → iCloud Drive or On My iPad → Downloads. Look for everyday-ages-14-18.ce.

  3. Open it in TouchChat and give it a new name.

    Tap the file and accept the import. Name it something like Everyday ages 14–18 test, then save. If it does not open, go into TouchChat: Vocab → Choose New Vocab → Menu → Import/Export Vocab → Import from files, and select the file.

  4. Choose the new vocabulary.

    Tap Vocab → Choose New Vocab and select Everyday ages 14–18 test. Its home page opens. Tap Topics, choose a folder, then choose a page. All those links are already made; there is no button to create for this separate full build.

  5. Try a short message and come back home.

    Tap I and want, then Topics → Food and drinks → Drinks → water. The message bar should keep the words as you move. Tap the message bar to speak. Try Clear, then Spell: spell cat, tap Space, and spell dog. Delete removes one character. Home returns to this build’s everyday words.

To return to your child’s usual vocabulary:

Tap Vocab → Choose New Vocab and choose its usual name. Home works within the vocabulary that is currently open.

If the message disappears after speaking: check Menu → Settings → Speak → Auto Clear and choose Off. If tapping the message bar does not speak, check its Tap Action is Speak. Setting names can vary by app version.

To add these pages to an existing vocabulary later, make a copy first, copy every page including all menus, then create one opening button using Navigate. Follow the copy-and-link guide. Opening a downloaded vocabulary by itself does not add it to your child’s usual one.

Make it theirs

Add chosen names and personal photos with your child. Keep useful words in familiar places. Hide or personalize celebrations to match your family. Body words support talking about comfort, pain and privacy; the pictures are simple educational cues.

These original builds combine common words, topic words, questions, direct messages, and spelling. They do not include WordPower’s grammar engine or learned button arrangement. Choose and personalize communication supports with the person who uses them and their speech therapist.
